This network has been inspired by the work of Alan Jamieson, Jenny McIntosh and Spirited Exchanges in New Zealand and shares their ethos.
The network seeks to provide:
•links for people with a shared interest in spiritual journeys on the edge of or outside churches and other religious groups, and the issues this raises.
•help to enable you to find or develop your own support groups, resources and networks.
•links to the New Zealand Spirited Exchanges website and the resources available there.
•news of related activities that are taking place in the UK.
•support and resources for the journey.
Spirited Exchanges UK:
•has developed an informal network of people sharing this journey.
•makes known existing groups where people might have the opportunity to process the issues and discuss the questions they have in a safe place.
•helps new groups get started.
•listens to stories and encourages the journeys of individuals and groups.
•promotes resources that have been helpful to others on their journeys.
•publishes an email newsletter with articles, people’s stories, book reviews that are helpful to people in this space.
•provides one to one accompaniment where that is possible - face to face, by email or phone.
•has a presence at Greenbelt.
•hosts events that further the aims of Spirited Exchanges.
The network was set up by a coordinating group in response to seminars on a Churchless Faith at the Greenbelt Festival, UK in August 2005. Some of the Coordinating Group are people who have been on the journey of faith transition and recognise the need for a response of this sort. Some are also working in the fields of ‘churchless faith’ and / or ‘emerging church’.
