For all sorts of reasons, people are leaving the church. For some the issues are primarily with faith, for others they are with the Church and sometimes a combination of both. Some leave their faith behind as well, a number even find a stronger, more mature faith outside the church.

 

Spirited Exchanges is a network offering support, encouragement and resources for people who are experiencing challenges to and/or the unravelling of their faith paradigms with all its associated issues. Many have already left the Church. Some have felt marginalised and misunderstood, others have felt controlled and disrespected. For most it has led to considerable upheaval in their Christian understanding and practice and has often meant the loss of previously valued community. Much of what is happening for people could be described as faith transition.

Spirited Exchanges recognises that there are many reasons a person leaves the church. Some are principally dissatisfied with the church and its culture and continue to maintain the same strong faith they had when they were in the church, while others have wider faith issues - questions and doubts etc, and are re-thinking what they actually believe. Many are in a process of deconstructing and / or re-shaping faith paradigms. It is primarily for this process that Spirited Exchanges offers support and resources. However, many of the resources also engage those who want to explore emerging / alternative ways of being church.
